We had lunch there not long after it had been refurbished. Good food and good service. We went again earlier this year, sadly it was just cheap pub grub.

"Looked like a pleasant establishment so we took a drink and ordered a meal; it was about 1.30pm. To make the order easy we ordered three all day breakfasts. The girl behind the bar said there would be a half an hour wait which I thought strange as it was well after lunch and the place did not look that busy. We paid, we waited, half an hour came and went. Looking forward to our meal it eventually arrived at 2.15pm. Upon first glance the meal looked OK until on further inspection we found the beans were cold, the chips and hash brows were very oily not drained properly and the bacon was burnt. I did complain to the bar girl and she apologised and said she would have a word with the manager. Needless to say we will not be recommending this establishment to anyone ever. The worst meal I have ever had." - S Morris [Mar 2008]
"Staff are always welcoming and friendly, engaging in banter unless busy; the menu - good before - is even better now, offering an excellent choice of meals / snacks and affords the best pub-grub in town (and to wait a little for my food is, I think, a good thing as it means everything is cooked to order); good choice of drinks, including soft and hot drinks. I can pop in late afternoon and sit and feel totally relaxed. I often meet my partner there after work is over and it is a great place to unwind." - Keith Cross [Apr 2008]
"It's a nice place but it's not a patch on what it used to be, lacks atmosphere." - Anon [Feb 2007]
"Has now become my 'local' when I'm a student in the town, last week we went there 4 days on the trot, brilliant food, good wine at reasonable prices, exellent staff, never had a unpleasant night there, great place to relax, chat and chill." - Robert Mackinnon [Dec 2006]
"Went in there recently: good food, recently converted into a no-smoking bar, friendly staff, nice relaxed atmosphere with decent people in." - Xapns [Oct 2006]
"Good for drinks, but food and service need drastic improvements. Have only visited twice for food. First visit was in its early days. Food for five of us arrived at different times after up to an hour's wait, although ordered together! Bar staff saw customers waiting and ignored them. Visited again for food a few weeks later hoping that things had improved. Sadly they hadn't. Waited for around 45 minutes for food - nothing more exotic than a wrap and sandwiches! Waiting staff were rude when we complained. Will now only visit for drinks!" - Dafydd Davies [Oct 2006]
"Did anybody write 'this is a sophisticated menu' on the menu? I think not." - Anon [Sep 2006]
"I just love sipping their gorgeous Chenin Blanc on a cool evening in the beer garden. It's lovely!" - Julie Johns [Aug 2006]
