Angel Inn
Behind the slightly scary entrance is a long, low-ceilinged bar with a couple of cosy corners. The back bar also has a small dancefloor which can be quite busy later on Friday and Saturday nights. This back room is also occasionally the venue for groups such as the university's rock society, RocSoc.
The Angel has a generally friendly atmosphere and pleasant staff. Apart from the club nights it's mainly popular with locals, particularly a slightly older crowd.

I have some great but vague memories of this place in the late 80's,
stumbling about in various states of conciousness with my mates Ellis & Liz
and various other freaks of the day. Always had good tunes and a friendly
atmosphere, something that could be hard to find for a wierdo out on a
friday in Aber back then! I'll be back in Aber in a weeks so I might go see
what it's like now!

I just remembered that 'The Farmers', which was the pub next door, once put
a returnable deposit on all their glasses. This emptied The Angel of a lot
of its glassware as soon as word got around. The Farmers was adopted by
Bikers, some of whom came by bus all the way from Machynlleth (no bikes).
The Angel was the Hippy pub. In 1972 all the men wore tie-dies and flares,
while the women favoured pre-Raphelite print dresses, or flares with smock
tops, which are back in fashion now! Happy times.

I think the Back Bar has been refurbished since us hairy ones frequented it
in the early 1970s. I met my wife to be there and she's still with me. So
the Back Bar is my history, right? Albright Lemon Top was 11p and
Worthington E was 12p. Horrible keg beer but a lovely atmosphere.
